Birth of an idea

While I was busy at Telogis building a world class product team, it also happened that we have a birth at home - keeping me busy at both places.

One day, while on a sales conference call, both my boss (founder of Telogis) and myself crossed each other on the diapers aisle of Ralphs. At that moment, I noticed the need for taking care of errands on same day, and some times during the lunch breaks or leaving early from work, is not unique and rather a common phenomenon.

Doing some research, about 93% of employees spend few hours a week taking care of simple "errands" during work hours. At the same time, as a tech early adopter, I used to take Uber rides for work travels and noticed that on-demand workers are actually free every afternoon, waiting for evening rush. Also, the fact that "Instacarts" of the world do not save any miles (someone doing it on your behalf and traveling similar distance) is not really "green" or sustainable from an optimization perspective.

Where there is a real problem, there can be a good solution...and so an idea was born...how can I combine my Route optimization smarts to save miles, on-demand afternoon availability, and employees need to take care of errands?

How?
